The Importance of Sleep
I am sure many of you have been in this situation before and know how great it feels to finally get your bedroom set up in your new place. I am grinning ear to ear since I have found my bedroom to be my little oasis especially during this year, 2020. I haven’t been one to experience anxiety before this year. I have had moments of anxiousness before, however, never did I have it consume me to the point where I was having a full on anxiety attack. In all transparency it felt like something I wasn’t sure I would be able to face again & since that moment I have taken steps to ensure that my mental health is something I prioritize in my life.
One of the main areas in my life where I have found peace when it comes to silencing my anxiety is recognizing the importance of sleep. In the past & sometimes even now I find myself staying up too late scrolling on social media, reading news updates & wondering what tomorrow has in store. This results in my next day being filled with tired eyes & a wandering mind. With 2020 already bringing so much uncertainty & unknown I have found my home especially bedroom to be my safe haven. This is the one space I have complete control over & that’s why I have made it a point to make it the most comfortable area in my new place. This is the reason I was drawn to the Casaluna line at Target because they provide comfortable high quality material for an approachable price. Being someone that doesn’t have a huge design thumb (is that a thing) Casaluna allowed me to curate a space that was easily cohesive from the duvet cover to the candles. Immediately when I saw this clay colored theme I was hooked & knew that I would be moving to my new apartment during the Fall and this vibe was exactly what I needed.
One game changer for me when it comes to managing my anxiety is creating a bed time routine. This is a schedule you need to follow and allow time for your body & mind to adapt to in order to see results. I have been focusing on setting my phone aside & sending my goodnights texts about 30 mins before bed. This is the time I use to go shower & do my face routine. I set the mood for my bed time ritual by lighting the “Harmony” Casaluna candle which sends a woodsy & flora aroma through my room which informs my body that it’s time for bed. This allows my mind to begin to turn done & promotes a calmness in the air. I highly recommend incorporating some sort of candle, room spray, essential oil or diffuser in order to help breathe out the weight of the day & breathe in newness.
Ultimately, my hope with this post is to encourage you to take the time to focus on your sleep to set the foundation for your well being. I know we spend a-lot of our time focusing on our next project, our fitness foals, eating healthy, but on thing we neglect is our sleep. The importance sleep has on your mental, physical, and spiritual health is mind blowing and may be the step you are missing to achieve the goals you have set in your life. I mean come on when do you read a blog post that tells you, hey you need to sleep more vs. the typical tips to losing weight in 30 days. Take the time you need to rest & rejuvenate so you can be the best version of yourself each day! :)
